Nooyi urges UTA audience to become lifelong learners

Indra Nooyi, business leader and bestselling author, spoke to an audience of students, faculty, staff, and community members at UT Arlington on Tuesday, March 21, where she urged those listening to make learning a lifelong endeavor.

New equipment for aerodynamic research

Two UT Arlington aerospace engineering professors have received a $330,978 grant from the Office of Naval Research for equipment that will make UT Arlington’s Aerodynamic Research Center capable of testing more material.

Business solutions prevent pollution

The UT Arlington-based Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center has received a grant worth nearly $500,000 to assist manufacturers in developing and adopting pollution prevention practices that reduce costs and environmental impacts.

UTA Day at the Capitol

Students and administrators from UT Arlington visited Austin yesterday to represent the Maverick community at UTA Day at the Capitol. UTA's Legislative Ambassadors spent the day conversing with and learning from Texas State Senate and House of Representatives members.

Architecture award

UT Arlington's new School of Social Work/CONHI Smart Hospital building has won first place in this year's TEXO Distinguished Building Awards Competition in the General Contractor - Educational Facilities category.

Learn about Ramadan

This Ramadan, UTA employees are invited to join the Staff Advisory Council and Women's Faculty and Staff Network as they learn about Islam, common misconceptions about it, and methods to support students and colleagues who observe. Group discussions will be held April 3 and April 17, 2:30-4 p.m., in the San Saba room of the University Center. Seating is limited; participants should register in advance.

Community conversation

Join the Office of Cultural Engagement and Social Change on Monday, March 27, for its community conversation about how the overturning of Roe v. Wade impacted documented and undocumented women within the United States.

Take a tour of campus

New faculty and staff have the opportunity to join a campus tour on the last Friday of every month. Guided walking tours last approximately 1.5 hours. To attend, arrive at the Dan Dipert University Welcome Center, 580 South Center St., about 15 minutes before start time. The next tour is Friday, March 31, at 3 p.m. Email questions to campustours@uta.edu.

Employees who have served UTA for 10 years or more in five-year increments are invited to participate in this year's Employee Recognition Service Awards, hosted by the Office of Talent, Culture, and Inclusion. View the event page to check for your name and RSVP to attend.

Employees who have served for 25 years or more can RSVP to attend the Service Awards Dinner on Wednesday, April 5, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Those who have been employed at the University for 10, 15, or 20 years can RSVP to attend the Service Awards Reception on Wednesday, April 12, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Wellness Wednesday

Pantry donations

The Maverick Pantry accepts gently used household items (i.e., plates, silverware, photo frames, cups, etc.). Items can be dropped off during operating hours Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., or in the donation bin near the front door at 520 S. Center St. near College Park Center.

Livongo Information Session

Blue Cross Blue Shield is offering a free webinar to UTA employees on the topic of using Livongo to manage diabetes and hypertension. Join online Wednesday, March 29, at 11 a.m. via Microsoft Teams.

Black Maternal Health Week

GET PHIT

Undergraduate students interested in public health informatics and technology are invited to apply for the GET PHIT summer boot camp, a two-week introduction to public health informatics, data standards, analytics, epidemiology, and more.
