New STEM Lab

Newly awarded federal funding will help UTA’s Summer Undergraduate Research Program in Integrative Physiology continue training the next generation of STEM professionals, regardless of their academic background.

TExBioMed program created

A National Library of Medicine grant will fund the creation of the Training and Experiential Learning in Biomedical Informatics (TExBioMed) Summer Institute at UTA, a new program to support underrepresented students while addressing the evolving health care landscape.

Grateful gathering

The campus-wide Thanksgiving feast brought together students, faculty, and staff for a night full of food and giving thanks.

Volunteer for commencement

Volunteers are needed for UTA's fall commencement ceremonies at Globe Life Field. Help is needed for set up Thursday, Dec. 15, and ceremonies Friday, Dec. 16. Complete the Commencement Volunteer Form by Monday, Dec. 5.

Help with Finals Cookies

Sign up to help with sweets and beverages at the Finals Cookies giveaway Monday, Dec. 5, at various sites across campus. Thirty minute and one hour shifts are available 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

WFSN holiday drive

Help the Women's Faculty and Staff Network's donation drive to benefit Tarrant County's SafeHaven through Friday, Dec. 9. Donations can be made online or at two locations on campus.

UTA Libraries Holiday Bash

De-stress with some holiday fun at the UTA Libraries' Holiday Bash noon-3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, on the first floor of the Central Library.  Enjoy delicious treats and hot chocolate as you craft ornaments and holiday decor for home.

Holiday glass sale

The Holiday Glass Art Pre-Sale is open for departments, faculty, staff, and students 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at the Studio Arts Center. Bring your UTA ID. A sale open to the public is 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10.

Holiday Lights Parade

Bring friends and family downtown for the annual Arlington Holiday Lights Parade Saturday, Dec. 10. Before the parade are reindeer games at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library, events at the Levitt Pavilion, and pictures with Santa.

Advancing the Dream nominations needed

The Arlington Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Committee is accepting nominations for the 2023 Advancing the Dream Awards in education, government, and community through Friday, Dec. 2.

Winners will bebannounced at the Arlington MLK Celebration Advancing the Dream kickoff Friday, Jan. 13, 2023.

NASA recognized in resolution

Tarrant County Commissioner Devan Allen recently passed a resolution recognizing Tarrant County Native American Heritage Month for the first time.

Present for the resolution were current and former members of UTA’s Native American Student Association (NASA), the longest continuously running student group in Texas that supports Native American interests; the group’s faculty advisor, Les Riding-In; and Native American community members.

The Native American Heritage Month presentation starts around 13:15 in the Commissioners Court video.

Holiday concerts

Experience Maverick music for the holidays. Holiday Jubilation: University Singers and Symphonic Winds Holiday Concert is at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Texas Hall. UTA A Cappella Choir Concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, in Irons Recital Hall of the Fine Arts Building. Tickets for both are $10 for adult and $7 for students and seniors.

Dance in Flux

Maverick Dance Company presents Dance in Flux, a collection of new, entertaining, and progressive dance works by faculty, guest, and student choreographers. The show is Friday-Sunday, Dec. 2-4, on the Mainstage Theatre in the Fine Arts Building.

Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibition 

Works by 38 graduating seniors are showcased in the Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibition Monday, Dec. 5-Friday, Dec. 16, in the Gallery at UTA in the Fine Arts Building.
