'The Woman King' screening, panel discussion

Get on the wait list for a screening of The Woman King followed by a panel discussion on the film's importance in popular culture and Hollywood. The screening starts at 6 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 6, at LOOK Dine-In Cinemas, 5727 West I-20 in Arlington.

Panelists are Provost Tamara Brown; Kiva Harper, associate professor of practice in social work; Jandel Crutchfield and Bethany Wood, assistant professors of social work, and clinician Lynda Carmouche.

Indigenous Peoples Day, Oct. 10

Indigenous Peoples' Day Celebration

UT Arlington celebrates Indigenous Peoples' Day 3-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10.

A forum on "Being Indigenous at UTA" begins at 3 p.m., followed by a ribbon cutting for the Land Acknowledgement Courtyard, north of the Central Library, and the unveiling of a bronze plaque and monument.

On the sixth floor of the library is a Native American food tasting at 5 p.m. and a talk on "Native Circles: Sustaining Ties to HomeLand" at 6 p.m.

The exhibit Native Now includes artifacts, artwork, and items from Special Collections.

Business Beyond the Battlefield

UT Arlington’s Veterans Business Outreach Center is hosting its Business Beyond the Battlefield Conference through Friday, Oct. 7. The conference provides collaborative, hands-on, interactive learning opportunities.

Commencement at Globe Life Field

To ensure that all Mavericks can invite friends and family to celebrate and enjoy a first-class graduation experience, commencement ceremonies will move to Globe Life Field for fall 2022, spring 2023, and fall 2023.

Young Faculty Award

Warda Ashraf, associate professor of civil engineering, received the Director’s Award from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to create a more resilient, longer-lasting, more durable cement material.

UTA's Green Fund featured

Fort Worth Report covered the popularity of green funds, noting that UTA became the first major university in Tarrant County to pass a green fund and plans to institute the fee in fall 2023.

Degree map, planner

On Thursday, Dec 1, Degree Map and Schedule Planner will be replaced by MavPlanner and MavScheduler. Current degree plans curated in Degree Map will transfer to the new MavPlanner by that date.

Pride Month

Night of the Living Dead

Spooky drama on stage this week

Get in the Halloween spirit at Night of the Living Dead with the Maverick Theatre Company through Sunday, Oct. 9.

Wear your costume for the late night show at 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7. An American Sign Language interpretation service is offered at the 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, performance.

Tickets are available at utatickets.com for $12 for faculty, staff, students, and seniors and $15 for the general public.

Caution: The show is for ages 12 and older because of zombie violence, gunshots, and adult language. Flashing lights and strobes will be utilized.

The company performs the classic musical Cabaret Wednesday-Sunday, Nov. 9-13.

Three Christian artists' tours come to campus this month. Tickets and parking passes are available at utatickets.com.

Gary Valenciano: Re-Energized Tour is set for Saturday, Oct. 15, at Texas Hall. VIP tickets are $158. Standard tickets range from $68 to $128.

Brandon Lake: Miracle Nights Tour with Blessing Offor and Joshua Silverberg is Sunday, Oct. 16, at College Park Center. VIP tickets are sold out. Suite tickets are $75. Standard tickets are $15-$50.

Curtain time for Newsboys: Stand Together Tour with Cochren & Co, Adam Agee, and Jeremy Rosado is Sunday, Oct. 30, at Texas Hall. VIP Tickets are $124.99. Standard tickets are $29.99-$39.99. A Family Four-Pack is $99.96, a 15% savings.

Sales tax and convenience fees will be added to each ticket. All sales are final. No refunds or exchanges.
