New record for largest incoming class

For the sixth year in a row, UTA has enrolled the most first-time-in-college students in University history, surpassing the fall 2021 total by nearly 7%, according to preliminary census numbers. A total of 4,463 first-time college students enrolled at UT Arlington for fall 2022, an increase of nearly 300 students over the previous year.

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

UTA's Office for Cultural Engagement and Social Change has helped plan a variety of events celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. Join the UTA community at events throughout the month, including the Latinx Faculty & Staff Association's Hispanic Heritage Month Welcome Event 12 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22.

Diversifying, strengthening STEM workforce

Through programs that support students from underrepresented groups, College of Science professors are investing in the diversification of the nation’s STEM-talented workforce in response to the National Science Board's call for increased pathways for individuals to develop advanced skills that lead to jobs in science and engineering.

Presidential investiture

Join fellow Mavericks for the formal inauguration of UTA's 10th president, Jennifer Cowley, at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at College Park Center. A festival reception on Spaniolo Drive will immediately follow the event. An RSVP is appreciated but not required.

North Texas Giving Day

Maverick Speakers Series: Carla Hall

Join UTA for "An Inspiring Evening with Carla Hall," celebrity chef, TV personality, and author, at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at Texas Hall as part of the Maverick Speakers Series. Hall competed on Bravo's Top Chef and Top Chef: All Stars, spent seven years co-hosting ABC's Emmy-winning series The Chew, and is currently featured in the Food Network shows Thanksgiving, Holiday, and Halloween Baking Championships and Worst Cooks in America.

CMAS Speaker Series: José Ralat

José R. Ralat, Texas Monthly's taco editor, will speak on "The Fluid Taco: The adaptive tortilla in the United States of America," 12-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, as part of the Center for Mexican American Studies' speaker series.

Hazing and reporting

Faculty, staff, and organization advisors are invited to Keeping Up with HR (Hazing and Reporting). Listen to a panel discussion on hazing, warning signs, how to report, where to report, and programming resources noon-1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23. Lunch provided.
