Homecoming 2021 celebration has begun
|
Homecoming 2021 runs through Sunday, Nov. 14.
See the artistic works of student organizations from Chalk the Mall.
There's still time to register to compete in the Homecoming 5K.
Don't miss the street festival, parade, basketball games, and crowning of the Homecoming king and queen on Saturday, Nov. 13.

Pediatric COVID-19 vaccine clinics
|
UTA has established two on-campus pediatric vaccine clinics to support Mavericks with family and dependents ages 5-11. Additionally, two other clinics are for Mavericks with family and dependents age 12 and older.
These free walk-in-only clinics will be in the Maverick Activities Center.
The clinics for ages 5 years and older are in room 100B.
- Saturday, Nov. 20, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Saturday, Dec. 11, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
The clinics for ages 12 and older only are in the Group Exercise Room101B.
- Wednesday, Nov. 17, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.,
- Wednesday, Dec. 1, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Road closures for Homecoming events
|
In support of Homecoming festivities this week, parts of campus will experience road closures.
- Spaniolo Drive from UTA Boulevard to Third Street, from 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 12, until midnight Saturday, Nov. 13.
- West Nedderman from UTA Boulevard to Greek Row Drive, 7 a.m.-noon Saturday, Nov. 13.
- Some streets near the Maverick Circle/faculty lot 11 and College Park District, 5:30-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13.

Join the campus community for a celebration of UTA’s designation as a Texas Tier One University 2-3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, in Brazos Park. Come for refreshments, giveaways, and entertainment, plus remarks at 2:30 p.m.

|
Learn about the contributions of Indigenous and Native Americans in the United States military at a Veterans Day event 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, on the University Center mall.

Electrical engineering scholarship
|
The Laxmi and Raj Mrig Endowed Graduate Fellowship will provide scholarship funds for students who received all or a majority of their preparatory education in South Asia and have demonstrated financial need.

Reducing fracture risk
|
Kamal Awad, a postdoctoral research associate at the Bone-Muscle Research Center, was lead author on a study of how hepatocyte growth factor could reduce the risk of bone fracture for people with Type 2 diabetes and hypertension.

Jeff Lei, professor of computer science and engineering, is analyzing how machine-learning systems make decisions and what happens when they make wrong ones.

E-waste recycling event
|
Bring your old computers, accessories, and more to the Electronic Waste Recycling Event for America Recycles Day 1:30-4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, on the UC mall near Woolf Hall.
E-waste includes printer cartridges, batteries, and anything that runs on electricity. See what can be recycled.
This event is to dispose of personal items. No UTA assets will be accepted.
Stop by the trivia table for a chance to win some sustainable prizes.
