Resources for veterans

Current events and significant anniversaries can stir a wide range of thoughts and emotions for veterans and members of the military. Whether faculty, staff, or students, veterans at UTA have a variety of resources through Military and Veteran Services to help them cope with difficult times.

"Resiliency is an honored trait among all service members regardless of branch, and much of that resiliency comes from knowing you are not alone," said James Kumm, executive director of UTA's Military and Veteran Services. "Please connect with someone if you find yourself in need."

Listed are a few resources for veterans and military-connected Mavericks.

Also see the Health and Wellbeing section of the veterans' resources page.

If you find yourself in crisis, immediately contact the Veterans Crisis Line at 1-800-273-8255 or the MAVS Talk Crisis Line at 817-272-8255.

Construction area for Social Work and Smart Hospital building.

Use caution around construction zone

Allow extra time to get to parking and buildings near the construction of the new School of Social Work and Smart Hospital building. Here are a few reminders.

  • West Street is one lane from Mitchell Street north to Nedderman Drive. The east lane is open for traffic.
  • Be mindful of crosswalks and traffic lights when crossing Mitchell.
  • Pedestrians should follow signs for the appropriate sidewalks. The east sidewalk along West Street is open.
  • Anyone parking in lots south of Mitchell—Lots 49, 50, 51, and 52—should use the pedestrian bridge across Mitchell and travel through the SEIR building. That is a safer and more direct route to the Library mall.
  • Work on the building will continue through most of 2022.
