In-person commencement this week

Pomp and circumstance returns for eight in-person commencement ceremonies at Globe Life Field Thursday-Saturday, May 13-15, for all of the University’s graduates from 2020 and spring 2021.

The commencement exercises will mark the first time UTA has hosted in-person ceremonies since December 2019, as all 2020 ceremonies were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A virtual ceremony for all colleges is scheduled for Sunday, May 16, at uta.edu/commencement for those who are unable or do not wish to attend the in-person ceremonies.

Business reaccredited

The College of Business was recognized for its excellence in strategic management and innovation with reaccreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

Summer parking permits

Summer-only parking rates, which start Sunday, May 16, are needed for employees returning to campus. Or choose the monthly, weekly, or daily options. Order your permit through MavPark.

Police leadership honor

UTA Police Lt. Yvonne RoQue completed the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration’s School of Executive Leadership. She was recognized as first runner-up in academic excellence among her peers.

Payment, travel advances

Effective Sept. 1, changes will be implemented that could affect your department’s budget regarding the Prompt Payment of Vouchers and Unpaid Travel Cash Advances.

SAC Summer Slimdown

Ditch the pandemic weight with the Summer Slimdown, hosted by the Staff Advisory Council. Registration is Thursday-Friday, May 13-14. The weight loss and fitness program runs Monday, May 17-Friday, July 30.

Steam service outage planned

The Thermal Energy Plant has planned its annual outage of campus steam service to complete inspection and repair requirements of the system components. The outage is scheduled to begin at midnight on Monday, May 17. Normal operations should resume by 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 22.

During the time designated, the buildings served by the Thermal Energy Plant will be without hot water and steam, including heated water for the swimming pool. Electrical power, air conditioning, chilled water, and domestic cold water services will still be available.
