Movin' Mavs add 9th national title

The University of Texas at Arlington’s ‘Movin’ Mavs’ claimed the National Wheelchair Basketball Association championship for the ninth time last weekend, beating Alabama 66-51 in the title game, CBS 11 reported.

Engaging with Students

Faculty will share online teaching practices, digital tools, activities, and strategies they learned in the program Learning Labs: Preparing Faculty for Hybrid and Online Teaching. The virtual event is 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 24.

Friday is a holiday

UTA employees have a paid holiday and UTA will be closed on Friday, March 19, for Spring Break. MavWire takes a break, too, and will return Monday, March 22.

Check the hours during Spring Break for the UTA Libraries, Maverick Activities Center, and on-campus dining locations. The Starbucks at the UTA Bookstore will be open.

Maverick Speaker Series reminder

Sign up for a reminder to watch the free Virtual Maverick Speakers Series at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 25. Tech expert Vivek Wadhwa will speak on “Navigating Technological Change at Light Speed."

Electrical outage this weekend

In order to finish the replacement of the electrical feeder serving several buildings, the Office of Facilities Management has scheduled an electrical outage from 6 a.m. Friday, March 19, through Saturday afternoon, March 20.

Available emergency back-up generators will be maintained throughout this outage to power crucial services in CAPPA (Architecture), Engineering Lab, Fine Arts, Earth & Environmental Sciences (Geoscience), Nanofab, and Nedderman Hall.

Please save any computer work or data to prevent possible loss. Turn off all electronic equipment; it does not need to be unplugged.

Remind grads to RSVP for commencement

All 2020 and spring 2021 graduates should RSVP with their intention to participate in an in-person or virtual commencement ceremony by today, Wednesday, March 17. To do so, they should register with MarchingOrder using their UTA student email address.
