COVID-19 testing

Curative administers free COVID-19 tests for employees and students 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. UTA’s Curative testing center is located at 435 Spaniolo Drive in the College Park District.

Appointments are encouraged but not required. They can be made through UTA’s portal on Curative’s website. Dependents of employees can receive free tests with an appointment.

Remind graduates to RSVP for commencement

All 2020 and spring 2021 graduates should RSVP with their intention to participate in an in-person or virtual commencement ceremony by Wednesday, March 17. To do so, they should register as a new user with MarchingOrder using their UTA student email address.

Prestigious fellowship

Alexa Washington, a UTA alumna and public health graduate student, has received the highly competitive Texas Health Resources Gunnin Fellowship.

Trio wins scholarships

Krissiha Lagos, Iridiana Barcenas, and Rocio Hernandez, first-generation students studying communication, have won scholarships, ranging from $2,000 to $4,000, from Hispanic Communicators DFW.

Outside email alert

On Monday, March 15, the Office of Information Technology and the Information Security Office will add a banner to emails received from external senders. Read more about the new banner.

New site for policies, forms

Beginning on Monday, March 15, DocTract will replace ComplianceBridge to host policies and procedures and allow department resource sites to host their respective departmental forms. Read details.

Water conservation

The Office of Sustainability hosts a discussion on water conservation for World Water Day, Monday, March 22. The session is at 11:30 a.m. on Zoom.

Staff Advisory Council 15ty annual Spirit Day Event on Wednesday, March 17, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Maverick Circl (outside new north entrance to Bluebonnet Ballroom at UC. Spirit items to first 300 people. Bring your MAV ID for chance to win door prizes.

Scheduling outdoor campus events

Under the Interim Guidelines for Campus Events, small outdoor events that support the core mission of the University are permitted. Social distancing, safety protocols, and CDC guidelines apply.

Academic and administrative departments can request to reserve space via the Division of Student Affairs’ Student Organizations Office.

UTA employees have a paid holiday on Friday, March 19, during Spring Break.

Spring Break hours

Check the hours during Spring Break for the UTA Libraries, Maverick Activities Center, and on-campus dining locations. The Starbucks at the UTA Bookstore will be open.

Online bookstore sale

The UTA Bookstore will be closed for Spring Break, but its online store will be open with a sale. Find discounts of 25% off clothing and gifts purchased online Tuesday-Thursday, March 16-18. Use code SPRING25.

Electrical outage planned for Woolf Hall

The Office of Facilities Management has finalized the schedule for the replacement and upgrade of the main electrical switchgear and motor controls in Woolf Hall from 6 a.m Monday, March 15, until the afternoon of Saturday, March 20.

The building’s emergency generator will be operational for fire and life safety equipment along with very minimal building lighting. As part of this project, we are upsizing the building’s emergency generator to support future research activities.

Please save any computer work or data to prevent possible loss. Turn off all electronic equipment; it does not need to be unplugged.

Food Pantry need to restock shelves

The UTA/Tri-C Food Pantry is in need of items to replenish supplies in order to continue to serve the growing need of our students. The winter storm has drastically impacted UTA students and the entire community, and many are struggling with food insecurities. Supplies need to be replenished to meet the current need.

Items needed include canned vegetables, canned fruit, cereal, pasta sauce, toilet paper, and laundry detergent.

Please consider donating to help UTA students in need. Supplies can be dropped off at Tri-C Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. or shipped via Amazon to 405 W 1st St., Arlington, TX 76010.
