Racial inequities in maternal health

The Maternal and Child Health Equity Lab in the College of Nursing and Health Innovation uses a combination of community-based participatory methods, secondary data analysis, and evaluation science to investigate social and health system factors that disproportionately impact the health and birth outcomes of Black women.

Monitoring gas leaks

Kathleen Smits, associate professor of civil engineering, is developing a gas-sensing protocol to help industry and regulators monitor underground natural gas leaks in real time.

Dr. Smits recently received a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration to monitor known gas leaks in urban and rural pipelines.

Diversity VP search needs your input

Market opens in Central Library

The Market will open on the second floor of the Central Library 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday with Caribou Coffee, sandwiches, snacks, drinks, and more. All items are Dining Dollar friendly. Einstein Bros. Bagels will close Monday, Oct. 12.
