President Karbhari announces departure
|
UTA President Vistasp Karbhari announced that he will step down as president of UTA, effective August 31, 2020. Dr. Karbhari joined the University in 2013 and has overseen major increases in enrollment, graduation rates, and research expenditure during his tenure.

Junior chosen for renowned program
|
Matthew Fiedler, a junior exercise science student, has earned a summer position as a research course assistant at the renowned Marine Biological Laboratory. He will assist with instruction of a physiology advanced research training course at the lab for seven weeks this summer.

Mechanical engineering professor honored
|
Ashfaq Adnan, an associate professor in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department, has been named a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He was honored for his work on traumatic brain injury and multiscale mechanics of biological, bioinspired, and engineered materials.

Wayne Isbell is the new assistant chief of police at UTA Police Department. He served as the Mount Pleasant, Texas, chief of police for eight years.

HonkMobile to replace MobileNow app
|
UTA has partnered with HonkMobile to offer a new way to pay for parking at on-street meters and visitor parking garages starting the week of Monday, March 9.
With the Honk app, students, faculty/staff, and visitors can seamlessly search, pay for, and extend short-term parking from a phone, tablet or computer. Coin-operated parking meters and pay stations will remain available in select locations.
