New National Academy of Medicine, Engineering members

UTA has added two new national academy members to the University’s faculty. Florence Haseltine is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and former director of the Center for Population Research of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development at the National Institutes of Health. Surendra Shah is an internationally renowned expert in cementitious materials and a member of the National Academy of Engineering. The new researchers elevate the total number of national academy faculty members at UTA to five. Read more.

Tickets still available for Maverick Speakers Series

There's still time to claim free tickets to see Anna Deavere Smith present "Engaging the World: The Role of the Artist in Society" for the Maverick Speakers Series on Tuesday, March 26, in Texas Hall.

The actress, author, and artist is best known for crafting more than 15 one-woman shows based on hundreds of conversations and characters. A recipient of the National Humanities Medal, she was a runner-up for the Pulitzer Prize for her play Fires in the Mirror. Smith’s television credits include Black-ish, Nurse Jackie, The West Wing, and the new ABC legal drama For the People. Read more.

Faculty and staff tickets are free; limit two. Preferred seating is $35.
