Anna Deavere Smith will present "Engaging the World: The Role of the Artist in Society" for the Maverick Speakers Series on Tuesday, March 26, in Texas Hall.
The actress, author, and artist is best known for crafting more than 15 one-woman shows based on hundreds of conversations and characters. A recipient of the National Humanities Medal, she was a runner-up for the Pulitzer Prize for her play Fires in the Mirror. Smith’s television credits include Black-ish, Nurse Jackie, The West Wing, and the new ABC legal drama For the People.
Faculty and staff tickets are free; limit two. Preferred seating is $35.
