With the current heat wave this week, turning off lights where possible helps UTA save on electricity for lighting and air conditioning, particularly during peak demand hours.
- We save on electricity for the lighting as well for the air conditioning that cools heat generated by the lighting.
- A significant part of our charges are tied to “peak demand” for the season. By eliminating a new “spike” in our demand charges, UTA can save significantly.
Facilites Management requests that you please turn off:
- non-essential lights, particularly in the afternoon
- coffee pots if not in use
- computer screens whenever the workspace is unoccupied
Just a little effort across campus can add up to hundreds of dollars saved and puts less pressure on the energy grid.
