Mavericks face Louisiana today after big wins against ULM by men's, women's teams

The men's basketball team welcomes the Sun Belt Conference's top-scoring Louisiana today, Monday, Jan. 23. Tip-off is 8 p.m. at College Park Center. UTA is 14-6 on the season and 4-2 in conference play following Saturday's 71-55 home victory over ULM. Tickets are $5 for faculty and staff and $6 for general admission.

The Lady Mavs hit a high point total in a 93-59 decision over ULM Saturday. The women’s team is 13-4 overall and 6-1 in conference play. LEARN MORE.

Don't take bait from phishing emails

   

Some UTA faculty and staff have received email messages with the subject line UTA Help Desk. This is a malicious phishing message designed to steal NetIDs and passwords through a legitimate-looking email message. Exercise caution when clicking links or opening attachments in suspicious email messages, especially those you’re not expecting. Sign up for a table at Activity Fair Day

University departments, programs, and student organizations are encouraged to host an information table at the spring Activity Fair Day on Wednesday, Jan. 25, in the E.H. Hereford University Center. Register online.

Volunteers needed for All-Majors Job Fair

The Career Development Center needs volunteers to help make the Spring All-Majors Job Fair a success. Volunteer online by Friday, Feb. 17. The fair is 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, in the Maverick Activities Center.

Foam roller class returns

Airrosti hosts its foam roller class to show how this simple tool can help improve flexibility, increase blood flow, and reduce pain and injury risk. The class meets at noon-1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, in Room 102B of the Maverick Activities Center. Register online.


Movin' Mavs hosts National Girls, Women in Sports Day event

The Movin’ Mavs adaptive sports program will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, in the Maverick Activities Center. The national champion Lady Movin’ Mavs wheelchair basketball team and various sport clubs will showcase opportunities at UTA and feature wheelchair basketball demonstrations. Speakers include Ashley Miller of the WNBA Dallas Wings and Paralympic gold medalists Rose Hollermann and Abigail Dunkin of the Lady Mavs and others.


Walk 10 minutes on Feb. 10 for UT System Heart Walk

The UTA Wellness Committee invites you to to walk for 10 minutes anytime between 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, for the UT System Heart Walk. Walk around campus or the hallways in your building. For a collector's pin, meet 10-10:30 a.m. in front of the box office at Texas Hall.


Baseball, softball season tickets on sale

Season tickets are available for the 2017 UTA baseball and softball seasons. Season tickets are $75 for each sport. Individual game tickets are $6, and UTA staff, faculty, and student tickets are $5. UTA's game with Texas Tech on Tuesday, March 14, will be played at Globe Life Park, the home of the Texas Rangers, and all general admission tickets are $10. Purchase tickets at utatickets.com.


Makers gonna make at FAB Now conference in Fort Worth

Fans of the UTA FabLab and the merely curious can learn more about all things maker, making, and makerspace at FAB Now 2017, Friday-Sunday, Feb. 17-19, at the Trinity River campus of Tarrant County College in downtown Fort Worth. UTA's Fort Worth Center hosts a social 5:45-7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18. Register to attend the free event.

Hans Mark, University of Texas System's chancellor 1984-1992, sits in front of Central Library's new LUIS computer terminal in 1988. UTA Libraries have about 268 desktop computers, of which 228 are available for free, and provides laptops and tables for check out. Mark served as chancellor after a career in the Air Force. He retired from UT Austin in 2014 as a professor emeritus of aerospace engineering and engineering mechanics
