Mavs topple No. 12 Saint Mary's 65-51

For the first time in program history, UTA men's basketball topped a top-25 opponent, claiming a 65-51 win over No. 12 Saint Mary's on Thursday night in Moraga, Calif. Saint Mary’s was ranked No. 2 and UTA No. 7 in the Men’s Mid-Major Top 25 rankings. New Associated Press rankings come out Monday. LEARN MORE.

Shelton to direct Center for African American Studies
|
UTA has named Jason Shelton, an associate professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and expert on the sociology of religion, race and class, as director of the Center for African American Studies. His appointment takes effect Jan. 1, 2017. Shelton joined UTA in 2008 as an assistant professor and has served as a faculty affiliate of the center since its founding in 2012. LEARN MORE.

Negotiations continue for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Texas Health Resources

As of this date, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Texas Health Resources have been unable to reach a mutual agreement on renewal rates to take effect Jan. 1, 2017. If BCBS and THR are not able to reach an agreement, THR will no longer be a provider to the BCBS network. The special edition of the Maverick Speakers Series has an earlier start time of 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at Texas Hall. The lecture will focus on his new book, The Court and the World: American Law and the New Global Realities, which examines the reasons an increasingly globalized world obliges the court to consider circumstances beyond American borders. Candidates for provost and vice president for academic affairs will have separate sessions open to the University community at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9; 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12; and 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, both in Room 108 of University Hall. Each candidate will speak and then answer questions.

Saturday event affects College Park South garage
|
The College Park South parking garage will close at 10 p.m. today, Friday, Dec. 9. All vehicles on the lower level must be moved or will be towed. Expect paid parking in all east campus event lots. Vehicles with an active UTA permit can park for free in any event parking lot.

Dallas Wings ticket plans on sale
|
Wrap up some Dallas Wings ticket packages for this season's gift giving. The WNBA team is entering its second season at College Park Center. The Wings will start the 2017 season on the road Sunday, May 14, when it faces the Phoenix Mercury, as part of the WNBA Tip-Off.
