UTA Office of the President - Jennifer Cowley, Ph.D.

Nov. 14, 2022

Dear UTA faculty and staff,

As we near the Thanksgiving holiday next week, I am grateful to work alongside such exceptional and dedicated faculty and staff. I truly feel that when you appreciate people, you should let them know—and I want you to know that this Thanksgiving I am thankful for each one of you and all that you all have accomplished this semester. As you prepare to spend this precious holiday time with your family and friends, I encourage you to reflect and celebrate the impact you have had on your peers and students.

In recognition of your hard work, and to allow our Maverick community extra time to be with friends and family during the Thanksgiving holiday, all UTA offices are authorized and encouraged to release employees at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23. As UTA continues to focus on our people and culture, this gesture is one impactful way we can honor these efforts.

Given the diversity of work across campus, final decisions about early release should be made at the department and unit level. We encourage employees and supervisors to work together to ensure operational continuity and availability of student support services while taking advantage of this early release opportunity to the fullest extent possible.

The Office of Talent, Culture, and Inclusion and the Office of the Provost will send a joint message to all employees to share guidance about eligibility, how to enter early release in TCP, and any impacts on services and course instruction.

May you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Cowley, Ph.D.
President
