Bivalent COVID-19 boosters available on campus Friday, Oct. 14 UTA will host a COVID-19 vaccine clinic on campus 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, to provide students, staff, and faculty convenient, free access to the bivalent booster dose recommended by the CDC. The bivalent booster protects against both the original virus that causes COVID-19 and Omicron variants. The clinic, operated in partnership with Walmart, will operate on a walk-in-only basis in Room 102A in the Maverick Activities Center and exclusively serve UTA students, staff, and faculty who are eligible to receive the bivalent booster. No appointment is required. Bivalent booster eligibility As of Oct. 11, the CDC recommends that you receive one bivalent booster if it has been at least two months since your last COVID-19 vaccine dose whether that was your final primary series dose or an original (monovalent) booster. People who have had more than one original (monovalent) booster are also recommended to get an updated (bivalent) booster. If you do not presently qualify for a bivalent booster shot, please continue to monitor the CDC’s guidelines for updates. Friday’s on-campus clinic will exclusively offer the bivalent booster. If you have not yet received your primary COVID-19 vaccine doses but would like to, please enter your zip code into the CDC’s COVID-19 Vaccine Finder to find a readily available vaccine near you. |
