Dear colleagues,
I am writing to share that Jeff Neyland, UTA’s chief information officer (CIO), will be leaving UTA Aug. 5 to pursue a new opportunity after seven years of serving and leading the Office of Information Technology (OIT).
Jeff came to UTA as a consultant in 2015, then served as acting CIO before officially taking on the role in the fall of 2017. Under Jeff’s leadership, OIT teams have implemented a “cloud-first” strategy that allowed UTA to nimbly respond to adversities like COVID-19 and severe winter storms; completely replaced all wired and wireless networks and security products for improved uptime and lower operating costs; and established a unique services-based organization, including the development of valuable project management and business process teams. Jeff’s contributions to UTA have been numerous, and he will be greatly missed.
Jeff is returning to his career as a consultant with the hope of sharing what he’s learned here at UTA and provide guidance to other organizations. His first engagement will be at UT Austin, where he’ll serve as their technology transformation leader and manage the development of technology strategies that align with the institution’s strategy and priorities.
Deepika Chalemela has agreed to serve as interim CIO beginning Aug. 8 until a permanent replacement is identified.
Please join me in thanking Jeff for his years of service to the Maverick family and offering best wishes in his next chapter!
