February 1, 2022

Dear UTA students,

We are, once again, thankful for our community’s adherence to our health and safety precautions, and we are encouraged by the modeling for the North Texas region that shows we should expect a continued decline in the number of new and active COVID‑19 cases in the coming days and weeks.

This Friday, Feb. 4, marks the end of the temporary protective measures we implemented to mitigate the impacts of COVID‑19 as cases surged after the holidays, and we look forward to returning to campus and resuming the semester in person.

Course instruction

Effective Monday, Feb. 7, courses will be taught in the formats listed in MyMav and Canvas. Courses with in-person elements will meet at their scheduled times and locations.

Reminder: Required COVID-19 tests due Feb. 4

If you have not done so already, please remember to provide proof of a viral COVID‑19 test by Feb. 4. This requirement applies to all students and employees, regardless of vaccination status, coming to campus in any capacity for the spring semester. More information on this requirement and testing options are available on the COVID‑19 Testing Policy and Resources webpage, and you may contact covidtesting@uta.edu with questions.

UTA’s COVID‑19 testing resources are always available to you should you need or want a test, not only when you are completing a UTA testing requirement.

On-campus events

As previously announced, on-campus events scheduled for the spring semester can continue as planned. As we restore in-person work and learning, we ask that you consider additional measures to keep attendees safe when planning on-campus events, like moving events outside or to other spaces that support social distancing.

Supporting a safe, healthy campus

We look forward to seeing you all again but remind you that we cannot let down our guard. Please continue to adhere to the best practices that help keep our Maverick family safe so we can focus on achieving our goals for this semester.

The Maverick spirit of maintaining personal responsibility and taking care of one another has been a consistent bright spot in the past two years as we’ve faced a number of pandemic-related challenges. There is much to look forward to in the coming months; making smart decisions to stay safe and healthy is essential as we strive for a successful spring semester.

Sincerely,

Lisa Nagy
Vice President for Student Affairs
Co‑Chair, COVID‑19 Executive Task Force

Pranesh Aswath, Ph.D.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs ad interim

John Hall
Vice President for Administration and Campus Operations
Co‑Chair, COVID‑19 Executive Task Force
