Office of the Provost - The University of Texas at Arlington

UTA Students,

While it has been a difficult year, you have done an amazing job of staying engaged with your coursework, professors, and fellow students. We are approaching an exciting time of year, with the final stretch of the spring semester approaching, summer and fall registration underway, and in-person and virtual commencement ceremonies on tap for next month. As the semester wraps up, you may have new questions or need additional support. Below is information on various academic and personal support resources to assist you:

  • Free, virtual tutoring and Supplemental Instruction are available for all students for a number of supported courses.
  • The Writing Center offers free assistance for any paper on any subject.
  • Academic success coaches are available to help students with academic and college-life management skills applicable to a variety of subjects and situations.
  • After thorough and thoughtful conversations with students and faculty, UTA will not be offering a pass/fail grading system this semester. We encourage you to contact your instructors and academic advisor for support related to your performance in a course or for accommodations related to hardships you may be facing. Possible accommodations include adjustments in terms of assignments, criterion, and due dates; waiving late penalties; and incomplete grades.
  • UTA veterans are encouraged to contact Military and Veteran Services for any special situations.
  • Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is always available to students, and its services may be performed remotely. Students may call 817-272-3671 to schedule a time to meet with a counselor. In the event of an emergency, students should call 911 or the MavsTalk 24hr Crisis Line at 817-272-8255. The UTA community is encouraged to use CAPS’ online resources to access information related to emotional well-being and mental health support.
  • Students who are looking to secure an internship or post-graduation employment are encouraged to visit the Lockheed Martin Career Development Center. The center is UTA’s centralized hub for career development insights, knowledge, services, employer partnerships, and engagement opportunities all focused on providing premier career development experiences both on and off campus.
  • Students who have faced financial difficulties associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and meet the federal eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply for a Higher Educational Emergency Relief Grant. Grants of up to $2,000 are available for qualified students.
  • We want you to be successful and graduate on time—if you’re encountering obstacles to graduation that are beyond what you and your academic advisor can solve, contact the Student Success Help Desk.

Need help finding the resource that you need? Or do you have additional questions that require an individual response? Whatever your situation, the Maverick Resource Hotline is here to help. Contact them at 817-272-6107 or resources@uta.edu.

UTA is here to support you in your education, personal growth, and path to a successful career. Please don’t hesitate to reach out in order to get the assistance you need.

Sincerely,
