UTA Policy EI-PO-02 (Conflicts of Interest, Conflicts of Commitment, and Outside Activities) requires all full-time faculty and staff to electronically request and receive prior approval for outside activities on an annual basis.
If you have not already submitted your request, please complete the electronic approval through the Outside Activity Portal in UTShare by April 30, 2021. You can log in using your Net ID and password.
If you have no outside activities, you are still required to access the Outside Activity Portal and indicate that you have no outside activity to report. Again, please do this by April 30, 2021, if you have not done so already.
An outside activity is defined as any activity performed by an employee that is not fulfilling UTA employment obligations, whether remuneration is received or not. This includes, but is not limited to, teaching for or holding faculty/affiliated appointments at other institutions, consulting, working, and board service.
Once you have entered your outside activity request, please route your request to the appropriate person, in accordance with the following relevant approvals:
- Executive officers will submit their requests to the UTA president.
- Employees involved in procurement activities and/or contract management will submit to the chief financial officer.
- Faculty will submit to the department chair and subsequently the appropriate dean.
- Deans and department chairs will submit to the provost and vice president of academic affairs.
- Administrative and professional staff will submit to the department head and subsequently the appropriate vice president.
- All other employees will submit to the department head and subsequently the appropriate vice president.
