March 10, 2021

Dear Mavericks,

With spring break coming up next week, we hope each of you is looking forward to some time spent relaxing and recharging to finish the semester strong.

As we understand many members of our Maverick community may be traveling throughout the state and country—or even internationally—we’d like to share some reminders about how to keep health and safety a priority no matter what your spring break plans are.

Domestic Travel

If traveling within the United States, UTA students are advised to adhere to guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), such as social distancing, hand washing, and use of face coverings. Be advised that some states are implementing quarantine requirements for travelers arriving from Texas. Please pay attention to the news and official information at your travel destination so you are aware of restrictions that may be in place upon your arrival at your final destination.

International Travel

Per a CDC order, if you plan to travel internationally, you will need to get tested no more than three days before traveling by air back into the United States and show your negative result to the airline before you board your flight.

Before and After Traveling

UTA encourages all Mavericks to be tested frequently, on a weekly or biweekly basis, to help curb asymptomatic spread on our campus and in our community. We also strongly recommend getting tested before embarking on and returning from any travel, spring break-related or otherwise.

UTA students can get tested for free at the Curative Testing Center at 435 Spaniolo Drive in the College Park District. Tests through this service are administered from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Appointments are encouraged but not required. They can be made through UTA’s portal on Curative’s website. You can learn more through our Curative On-Campus COVID-19 Testing FAQs.

In addition to proactive testing, please remember to follow all CDC guidelines and recommendations for before and after traveling.

UTA’s International and Domestic Travel webpage is up to date with the latest guidance and resources, and all information regarding UTA’s practices for testing, self-monitoring, quarantine, and isolation is aggregated on the Testing and Daily Self-Monitoring webpage.

Thank you for your continued commitment to protecting yourself and your fellow Mavericks by following our on-campus COVID-19 protocols and by making smart decisions in the interest of health and safety whenever you’re off campus.

Sincerely,

Lisa Nagy
