In a few short weeks, we will begin a new semester. We’re all incredibly excited for an enriching experience this fall, despite these unusual times. To keep our campus community as safe and healthy as possible, it will require each one of us to do our part.
For our community to stay safe, we all must be accountable for our individual behavior. This requires a steadfast commitment by each of us to safeguard the health of our neighbors by following the guidelines that we’ve all come to know as the new normal:
- Monitor your health daily—if you feel sick, stay home.
- Wash and sanitize your hands often.
- Wear a mask.
- Remain socially distant as much as possible.
As you prepare for the new semester, I encourage each of you to visit UTA’s Coronavirus Updates webpage to review the Face-Covering Protocol, Testing and Self-Monitoring Resources, Student FAQs, Faculty & Staff Resources, Campus Repopulation Plan, Fall Academic and Course Planning Report, and much more. It’s a centralized hub for information about COVID-19 and returning to campus safely for the fall term.
There is palpable excitement here as we prepare campus for in-person and virtual learning. Our focus is to help each of our students achieve their academic goals and enjoy the Maverick experience, despite the challenges of the pandemic.
Things will be different this fall, but if we all work together, this semester will be a rewarding one. I ask each of you, together, to conquer the challenges that lay before us and to have a great fall semester.
We are in this together.
