Soeun Jang

Hello, my name is Soeun Jang, and I'm from South Korea. I got my BSW at the University of North Texas in Denton. My BSW internship placement at a skilled nursing facility introduced me to various backgrounds and experiences of older adults with chronic health conditions or dementia and their family caregiver experiences. I completed the MSW program at UTA and graduated in summer 2022. I had excellent experiences through the program and internship placement at Methodist Charlton Medical Center. I could apply my knowledge and perspectives on social determinants of health to understand many patients from different backgrounds better. Within my experiences through social work programs, as a Ph.D. student, I'm interested in exploring more about social determinants of health and gerontology, specifically the associations between neighborhood social environment and older adults with dementia and their family caregiver experiences.
