- What Is the Pre-Law Banquet??
All Pre-Law Students are invited to attend this formal evening! (Everyone loves an excuse to dress up)
This year, we have a “Hollywood Glam” theme hosted at the beautiful Shady Valley Country Club and we will be rolling out the red carpet with dinner and entertainment. Students graduating will receive honor cords for Pre-Law, Law and Legal Studies, Pre-Law Orgs and (new this year!) Trial and Appellate Advocacy! We recognize leaders and scholarship recipients as well! And once the ceremony is over, the end of the year celebration begins with live entertainment, music, games and prizes, including a FREE LSAT PREP COURSE!
This is the biggest celebration in Pre-Law and you don’t want to miss it!

- Outstanding Senior Nominations Are OPEN!
We will be recognizing our Outstanding Senior Pre-Law students through nominations from students and faculty! Graduating seniors including those graduating Spring/Summer 2024 and those who graduated in Fall 2023 are eligible for this award.
Please submit candidates you believe are deserving of the honors. Self-nominations are welcomed! You are encouraged to forward this nomination form to members of faculty for nomination as well.
Nominations must be received by Sunday, April 7th. Recipients will be announced at the Pre-Law Achievers Banquet on April 25th.

Pre-Law & LLS Minor Honor Cords for Graduation
For those of you graduating this May, we will be awarding honor cords for Pre-Law and Law and Legal Studies Minor students at the Pre-Law Achievers Banquet on April 25th at the hooding ceremony.
To receive your cords, you must complete the Graduate Form linked below as early as possible. Those graduates completing the form will also have access grad family tickets so that family can join in the banquet celebration as well!

- Volunteers Needed for Mock Juror Selection
UTA Students will be conducting a mock voir dire aka jury selection for class credit and are in need of a few volunteers to serve as jurors for the exercise. Volunteers will receive prizes for participation as a thank you for your time. The rounds will be held on April 2nd and 4th 8am – 9:20am. Volunteers can sign up for either or both dates and will receive prizes for each round of participation.

- Save the Date for Free Logic Games Workshop
Free LSAT Reading Comprehension Workshop
Thursday April 11, 6pm - 7:30pm EST

The workshop will be conducted by Doug Lawrence, a veteran ScorePerfect instructor with over 20 years of LSAT teaching experience, an official LSAT score in the 99th percentile, and a J.D. from UC Berkeley. Attendees will be challenged with a series of difficult LSAT questions and Doug will demonstrate the most effective methods for tackling them.
- Sumners At-Large Scholarship Program
At-large scholarships support qualified students who demonstrate a passion for self-government. Students from Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas are eligible to apply as long they are attending a college or university in Texas or Oklahoma.
Working from a pool of undergraduate candidates deemed qualified in all respects for the Sumners Scholarship, the Trustees of the Foundation conduct personal interviews of the finalists and make the final scholarship decisions. In addition to academic excellence, the trustees seek young men and women who are civically engaged and possess a capacity for leadership. Trustees are looking for students are actively working to further our democracy. A cumulative minimum GPA of 3.5 is required and must be maintained if selected as a Sumners Scholar. Students must be US citizens. Scholarships are for rising juniors with funds to be applied for the junior and senior years of undergraduate work only.

FAFSA Delay: What’s Happening and What’s Next

The U.S. Department of Education has announced an extraordinary delay in processing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form for the current application cycle. How will this delay affect your efforts as you pursue financial aid to attend law school? Join LawHub on Wednesday, March 20, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. ET for a look at the 2024-25 FAFSA form, what’s happening now, and how you can adjust to current conditions as you embark on your law school journey. This webinar will include a moderated panel discussion with experts in law school financial aid who will offer guidance on navigating this unexpected delay. If financial aid is part of your current, or future, plans for law school, this informative event is for you.
- High School Speech and Debate judges Needed for Spring Break Competition
The NCFCA Christian Speech & Debate league will be hosting a tournament from March 13-16, 2024 at Texas Baptist College in Fort Worth. Competitors are high school and middle school, ages 12-18.
Judging one round requires a commitment of approximately three hours. Your experience will include a brief training video, watching and listening to the students assigned to your room, filling out ballots to rank the competitors, and offering feedback you have on their performance. Light refreshments will be provided.
