Greetings from the Pre-Law Center!

 

With finals around the corner and registration upon us, it’s time to start planning for next semester and the new year!  For some of you, that’s graduation and for the rest of you it’s planning for a new semester of classes. Attached is a list of Spring 2024 legal/law-related courses being offered next semester.  For those considering the minor in Law and Legal Studies, each of these courses is applicable and would count towards the minor requirements.

Don’t forget to reach out if you have any questions about classes, events, scholarships or need law school application help!

  • CALLING ALL DECEMBER 2023 GRADUATES!

We will be celebrating all Fall & Spring graduates at the Annual Pre-Law Achievers Banquet on April 25, 2024 at the Shady Valley Country Club in Arlington. So mark your calendars for that event.  There, we host a special hooding ceremony and distribute graduation cords for Pre-Law and Law & Legal Studies Minor students.

If you will be walking in the December commencement and would like to order cords for that, please complete the Pre-Law Graduate Questionnaire linked below and you will receive an email with further instructions for how to order those.  Email amber.white@uta.edu if you have any questions or concerns about grad cords.

  • LAW SCHOOL 101 COURSE WILL BE RETURNING SPRING 2024!

Last Spring, the Law School 101 course was a hit among Pre-Law students and will be back this Spring! Registration is now open and seats are available on a first come first served basis.

HIST 4391 -- Law School 101

Live Campus Course – Thursdays 5:30-8:20

This course presents students with an opportunity to explore what it means to be an attorney in practice and student of law by demystifying the full law school experience.  Each week, students will learn valuable skillsets related to admissions groundwork, LSAT test preparation, research-based writing, and first year success, Students will be introduced to materials and instruction designed to enhance and strengthen success in law school.

You MUST have pre-approval from me to enroll.  Enrollment in this course is going to be prioritized by the order in which the enrollment request is received and will be capped at 20 students for this upcoming spring.  To get on the registration list, email amber.white@uta.edu with “Law School 101” in the subject line.

The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is seeking Interns to provide support for contract and risk management-related services, focused on research, asset management, compliance, and contract and risk coordination. We also had an amazing chat with Jesus Flores Rodriguez of the California-based non-profit organization Immigrants Rising who told us some great law school admissions tips for DACA, Undocumented and International students. He also gave some insight into some great programs and financial aid resources that will support students on their admissions journeys.

How can I purchase a voucher?

Go to our online Pre-Law Center Marketplace.  There are only a limited number of vouchers available. The LSAT Prep page will go live on Friday, Nov. 10th and remain open until all LSAT Prep Vouchers have been claimed.  The first 5 students to use the promo code “PLC50” will receive an additional $50 off the cost of their voucher.

  • 2023-2024 LSAC Forums & Important Dates

    LSAC is hosting a mix of live and digital LSAC forums for the 2023-2024 admissions cycle so that any and all students can have access to critical resources and information.

    Why attend? 

    This is the nation’s largest law school fair and ALL law schools will be participating!  This is your opportunity to hear from admissions and recruiters at your dream schools.  LSAC will host a workshop for students preparing to take the LSAT where you will have the opportunity to hear directly from the test writers on how to excel on various aspects of the test.  You’ll also have the chance to participate in personal statement workshops and much more!
