We’re halfway through the semester!!!
Whether you’re preparing for exams, LSAT or graduation, don’t forget to take some time to destress. Mental health is just as important as physical health. If we can ever be of assistance in this regard in the Pre-Law Center, please feel free to reach out.
In the meantime, enjoy these announcements and we hope to see you at these upcoming events. Special shoutout to the UTA Mock Trial team who competed in their regional tournament in the last weekend in February. They did a great job! Congratulations to the newest Pre-Law student org, Pre-Law NBLSA, who became an official UTA org this month! We can’t wait to see what exciting things lie ahead for the org and its members.

Calling all Pre-Law Students, Graduates, Competitors, Advocates, and Student Leaders – The Pre-Law Achievers Banquet is back and will be live at the beautiful Rolling Hills Country Club in Arlington for the first time since 2019!!!!
This year’s banquet will feature a Murder Mystery Dinner!! We will also be giving away some amazing raffle prizes including a free LSAT Prep Course as well as LSAT Private Tutoring Packages and other awesome prizes and giveaways.
For those that have never been able to go to a banquet, this is a formal awards dinner honoring graduates, competitors, student groups, leaders and outstanding achievements from the school year. We give out graduation cords at this event as well. Students can bring family, friends and significant others. This is the event of the year and not to be missed!

Reception & Mixer
Friday, March 25th 3pm –5pm
UTA University Club Lounge
In the first mentorship and networking event since before the pandemic, UTA Pre-Law Center will host a live Speed Networking mixer and reception event where students can have one-on-one conversations with attorneys asking their burning questions, getting to know about various practice areas and exploring ways to better their future careers through direct engagement with legal professionals.
Business professional attire.
Heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served. Free for Pre-Law students to attend. Space and seating is limited.

- UT Austin Law School & State Capitol Tour
Austin Day Trip by Charter Bus
Thursday, March 24th Bus departs @7am
UT Austin Law School and State Capital Tour:
Students will be taking a day trip to tour UT Austin Law School and the State Capital. This trip will take place on Thursday, March 24th, and it will include us leaving UTA at 7 AM, arriving at UT Law and taking a tour of their beautiful law school at 11 AM, going to lunch after, then touring the State Capital, leaving Austin around 4 PM and arriving back home in the evening.
The dress code is business casual (make sure to wear comfortable shoes). Only the first 40 interested students will be able to attend so please email immediately if interested in attending. Those interested should email PLS Events Coordinator Dina Hannun (dina.hannun@mavs.uta.edu) for details on signup.

Position Summary: A support role to assist more senior procurement analysts by maintaining databases and tracking licenses, invoices, and agreements. Successful applicant will work under direct supervision while training in the various components of the support role.
THIS POSITION WILL BE PART TIME AND YEAR-ROUND - Candidate must have the ability to work approximately 15- 20 hours a week Monday -- Friday.
Responsibilities:
- Confirm an agreement (ie. Master Services Agreement [MSA]) is in place and determine the status (ie. Active, Expired, Terminated, etc.)
- Assist in maintaining a contract management database / repository that contains all executed contracts and contracts that are under development but not yet active
- Track obligations, deliverables, and contract change notes. Manage and control access to documents as appropriate
- Check availability of unused software/user licenses and make recommendations to eliminate unnecessary purchases
- Update and maintain database with transaction information for reference in future negotiations with vendors
- Maintain software support, hardware lease, data subscription renewal schedules
- Review incoming software/data invoices for accuracy, verify AP coding, route for approval
- Generate expenditure reports - software support, hardware lease, data subscription
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a BS or BBA; Prefer students that have completed their Sophomore year.
- Preferred Skills: Strong analytical, data-gathering, and problem-solving skills; Highly organized with acute attention to detail; Excellent PC skills and familiarity with major email, word-processing and spreadsheet packages; A basic understanding of licensing concepts and various types of IT related agreements.

Women In Law
Women in Law is meeting and looking for new members! This organization is open to all majors and seeks to provide resources to advance women’s interest in the legal world. Students can look forward to bi-monthly meetings, socials, the WIL Speaker Series and this semester the Inaugural Spring Retreat is on! It will be taking place April 2-3, 2022 at the NYLO in Las Colinas. Contact a WIL officer for more information.

Pre-Law Chapter of National Black Law Students Association
For over fifty years, the National Black Law Students Association has worked to develop culturally responsible Black and minority law students that excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community. NBLSA members are activists, thought leaders, and strategic thinkers. NBLSA alumni are partners, general counsel, judges, non-profit executives, and business operatives. Congratulations on officially becoming a UTA Student Organization this month!
General Body Meetings will be held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month 3:30 – 4:30 P.M. Meetings will be in person (with masks) and a hybrid option will be offered as well for those who cannot attend in person.
