Campus Carry

Campus Carry

The University of Texas System Board of Regents has given final approval to UTA’s policies and procedures for implementing Senate Bill 11— the state’s “campus carry” law — which took effect August 1, 2016.

President Vistasp M. Karbhari established a campus carry committee in 2015 to recommend S.B. 11 implementation. The committee held multiple open forums on campus, met with various student, faculty and staff groups and welcomed comments through an online survey. These suggestions, comments and proposals were considered in fashioning the university’s campus carry policy.

The safety and security of our campus community is of the greatest importance and is the top priority of all of us at UTA. Training, education and resource materials are being provided to prepare everyone for campus carry.

Please familiarize yourself with the UTA Campus Carry Policies and Procedures posted on this website, and check back for coming updates including a training presentation, a video, and other useful materials.

Thank you,

The UTA Campus Carry Committee
