About Us
Engineering Student Success Services is a hub for student academic, leadership and career development and enrichment in the College of Engineering (COE). We work collaboratively with the COE and University departments, units, and offices to develop and implement various strategic services, programs and resources that promote undergraduate retention, graduation, and career progression across all engineering disciplines.
Our Mission
Our mission is to deliver excellent and innovative student success programs and services.
Our Values
- Respect
- Innovation
- Excellence
- Quality Student Experiences
ESS Priorities
Academic Enhancement
We utilize data from multiple sources to create, plan and assess programs that challenge students to go beyond “competency” in their engineering discipline and take advantage of more profound learning experiences.
Academic Engagement
We engage students with barriers impeding their success but with high potential to succeed in services, interventions, and programs that challenge them to take ownership of their education.
Career Readiness
We provide an array of venues to students to participate in experiences that connect course content with industry practice, learn career advancement strategies via mentoring and engage with employers both inside and outside the DFW area.
Leadership Development
We identify and engage engineering students interested in guiding and directing others in an engineering work environment. Various university-wide and College of Engineering institutes and related experiences are being developed to accomplish this goal.
Entrepreneurship
We foster internal and external partnerships to create opportunities for all College of Engineering undergraduates to engage in creative learning experiences that lead to innovation and entrepreneurial pursuits.
Engineering Professional Technical Skill Development
As engineering majors, it is critical that students develop and can show evidence of APPLIED knowledge. Our Engineering Professional Tech Skills Series features hands-on engineering tech skills seminars where students are introduced to and engaged with pertinent topics in their engineering field of students with the emphasis being placed on corresponding credentials, i.e. certifications, licensure, etc.
