As we look forward to wrapping up the summer term, continue to witness high COVID‑19 transmissibility rates in Tarrant County, and begin fall semester planning, we're sharing some updates, reminders, and resources related to UTA's ongoing response to COVID‑19. The status of the virus and its variants evolves frequently, but a healthy campus remains paramount. All Mavericks should remain vigilant and adhere to the best practices that help keep our community safe.
What to do and know for your health
- All Mavericks, regardless of vaccination status, are encouraged to wear a mask when indoors and when social distancing cannot be maintained. This is especially true as Tarrant County is at a high level for transmissibility.
- Perform daily health screenings. If you are symptomatic, do not come to campus. Seek medical attention and get tested.
- If you test positive for COVID‑19, submit the Personal Diagnosis Form and follow UTA's self-isolation protocols. Reporting positive test results helps us monitor campus activity, inform your supervisor and make informed decisions for campus safety. We'll also send you guidelines and instructions for quarantine and isolation protocols.
- If you come into close contact with someone who is lab-confirmed to have COVID‑19, you should review UTA's protocols so you know what actions to take.
- Get vaccinated if you're able and encourage your friends and loved ones to do the same. Students can get vaccinated free of charge through UTA Health Services. Contact covidvaccine@uta.edu with questions.
What we're doing to foster a healthy campus
- COVID‑19 testing is free and available seven days a week on UTA's campus for all students and employees. Find and schedule a COVID‑19 test. Contact covidtesting@uta.edu with questions.
- Free face masks are available to UTA departments through the Office of Environmental Health & Safety. Individuals can pick up free masks in the Central Library and at the Information Desk in the University Center and in the Commons.
- Enhanced cleaning of spaces that may have been visited by an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 will continue until further notice.
- UTA's HVAC systems are programmed for maximum airflow and controlled humidity levels and are undergoing filter system upgrades and extensive duct cleaning.
We continue to closely monitor COVID‑19 risk levels locally, as well as guidance from the CDC and will update these protocols and recommendations, if necessary.
As always, uta.edu/coronavirus is your best source for UTA's COVID‑19 updates and resources.
Taking precautions to protect ourselves and others from illness plays an invaluable role in allowing us to advance toward our collective and individual goals. Thank you for your partnership in this effort.
